MEMORIES
BAT-SHEVA PETEL LAVIAN
Hi Saba,
I decided to write this letter, because I don't like the short videos where I just say hello and that's it… I would like to say a few more words and have Mom read this letter to you.
I love you. It starts there…. I think about the good times we had and all the wonderful talks and moments we spent together and I can't believe that from now on it will be in past tense…. I think it was very hard for me to understand and realize your situation, because I always thought of you to be a Superman- with special powers and unique abilities and forces. That's who you are for me….
My latest memory of us together is when I called you up, saying I missed you and wanted to spend time with you a year and half ago, the night Rowan was born. I was so amazed that you agreed in a one second to pay for my ticket and after that giving all the grandchildren the same amount of money so it will all be fair and right.
I loved being with you and walking with you wrapped in your arms in Uptown with Cindy and showing everyone your toy and standing outside of Byeley's in the cold fundraising for Rotary Club.
You were always so amazed with my life and how I told you the stories. It tomade me so proud of myself to know that you were proud of me and who I am.
Thank you for coming for our wedding and making it so special and bringing the whole family. We have some beautiful pictures dancing together with you in white socks and me barefoot. I remember the blessing you said in the Chuppa and the thought that you and Grandma Besse had the exact same ceremony and you got to stand there with us… amazing!
Thank you for welcoming Ido into the family and making him feel a part of and connected to everybody. I always loved how you were excited with his field and saved newspaper clips with articles that were related to the water engineering.
I think back on your old house with the lawn and the ducks and the ladder in the kitchen… I loved that house! So unique…. like you! And I even have a short memory of the houseboat and the tall pole that connected the floors…. So cool!
I loved jumping with on the trampoline and learning new tricks and exercises. I was so proud of you dealing with your fear of falling and going at it in such a creative approach-- so positive and meaningful!
I love you Saba. I wish I could there with you to say these words to you by myself and not be so far away. I was looking forward to see you in a month and for you to meet my Hilleli- what an amazing gift he is to me and Ido.
I have so much to say, that I don't know what to say…..
Know that I always looked up to you and the way you decided to live your long and impressive life. Know how much you mean to me and to my family and what a special place you have in our hearts and souls. I miss you so much!!!!!!!
All my love to you,
Your Shushu
