What a wonderful website for Elliott! Reading all the eulogies and memories people had of your father brought Al and I to tears. He was an amazing man, as anyone who knew him would agree. He was our good friend for more than forty years! He did so many things in his lifetime it would be impossible to talk about all of them.
Al and I just had a long conversation about all the things we did with Elliott and our own shared memories.
I loved playing music with your dad. Must have been with him at least once or twice a week for years playing the recorder. He picked it up and improved more quickly than any of us, which also started the long friendship with Moti and Arron. He helped me be a better player and a better person for sure! Remember the beautiful harpsichord he helped to build? And all the performances we conned our family and friends to attend at the JCC?
How often he would show up at our home on Xerxes with something new he wanted to do or show us. We remember him juggling for our kids. We remember his balloon twisting phase. We remember visiting him at three different homes after he re-married. Especially the houseboat on the river in St. Paul. Everything was an adventure for him. Do you remember the twine and cardboard he put together to hold newspapers? He came to Al’s school one day and left a big bundle to give away. Just like him!
We remember the yellow Volkswagon he found in Arizona. And the many excursions he took us on to visit all the other interesting people he knew in Mpls. Never a dull moment with Elliott. And we remember lots of good times at your home in St. Louis Park when your Mom was alive. She would only come down and talk to us when we stopped playing the recorders.
Everyone who knew him seemed to have a different slice of memories to share because he did so many giving and interesting things.
You were lucky to have him for so many years. Thank you for keeping us posted. Wish we could have been there, but we will never forget him!
Lots of love,
Eileen & Al
