I must recall an experience with Elliott a few years ago
We were attending a Shiva where someone introduced me to Elliott. The conversation went something like this. "Elliott is an interesting man you should meet."
Elliott's and my conversation quickly led to Elliott's interest in ants. I said that I had just read a book by E.O. Wilson, a well known ant scientist. That immediately led to a spark in Elliott who responded, "Do you mean that you too are interested in antS?" That in turn led me to Elliott's apartment where he showed me his books on ants, a movie of Elliott's visit with an ant scientist at the U of Florida exploring an ant colony and Elliott showing me an casting of an ant colony's home.
Subsequently I enjoyed several visits to Panera where everyone knew Elliott and discussions of art, the art of falling and other of Elliott's many interests.
Elliott had mastered the art of aging with his sharp intellect, his endless curiosity and his engagement with the contemporary world. He was obviously fond of his children and grandchildren Truly a person of the ages to be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of his company
